Etienne is Group Financial Director of Thuthuka Group Ltd, a multi-disciplinary project engineering and finance business specialising in the water, waste, air pollution, mining and energy industries.
Etienne joined Thuthuka Group from Ingeniso Corporate Finance where he was a director and long time advisor to Thuthuka Project Managers, one of the merged entities forming Thuthuka Group Ltd. He was a founder member of Ingeniso in 2000, a boutique investment banking and corporate finance group where he managed and originated various venture capital, investment and turnaround projects, serving clients such as Mittal Steel, Ernst & Young, Golder Associates and Murray & Roberts.
Prior to establishing Ingeniso, he was with Deloitte Consulting, a major international management-consulting firm where he specialised in business process engineering and strategy. At Deloitte, he managed major corporate transformation projects and interventions for BHP Billiton, SA National Defence Force, Old Mutual, First National Bank and SAA. Before entering the consulting world, Etienne gained extensive experience in executive finance, marketing and production capacities in the manufacturing, engineering, property, hospitality and entertainment industries with Rotek Industries, ESKOM and the PPP Group. He completed his articles with Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers) in Johannesburg.
Etienne is a recognised authority in the areas of business strategy development and execution, competitive intelligence, business valuations, financial and cost management, programme and project management, value based management (EVA), theory of constraints and export processing zones. He has extensively researched and lectured corporate finance in the area of real options, valuations, leveraged buyouts, corporate debt and similar corporate finance structures and has advised on and participated in various capacities in numerous transactions. He has further conducted and project managed a number of acquisitions and corporate finance transactions.
Etienne is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the international and South African Societies of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP & SAACIP), the Investment Analysts Society and the Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA). He is also past President of the South African Association of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SAACIP).
