Managing Director of the Thermtron Group of Companies (including Thermtron Holdings (Pty) Ltd, Thermtron Projects (Pty) Ltd, Thermtron Plasma (Pty) Ltd and Thermtron Technologies (Pty) Ltd)
Responsible for the long term planning, strategic leadership, marketing and research and development. The companies grew under this leadership from 5 persons to over 120 (including artisans during 2006) and are now stabilizing at 20 to 30 engineering and scientific staff. The existing turnover of the group of companies is about R30m per annum.
Thermtron is also certified for Quality as ISO 9001:2000 (from 2004) and Health and Safety as OSHAS 18001(from 2007). From 2003 to 2008 Thermtron was involved with students through consortiums and provided projects and mentorship. A total of more than 30 students, mostly black, acquired engineering diplomas, BTech degrees, BEng, MEng and Ph.D degrees from various universities. See attached documents.
The Thermtron group of companies focuses on the innovation, research and development and industrialization of chemical processes in the fields of energy, minerals beneficiation, waste conversion and space technology.
Thermtron specialises in application of high temperature technologies including plasma technology for the purification of coke, manufacturing of special oxides and gasification of coal, chemical vapour deposition in the nuclear field, industrial applications of radio frequency technologies, specialised surface coatings, techno - economic studies, design of chemical plants, process optimisation, water purification and development of processes to produce PTFE and silica gel.
