Multidisciplinary engineering firm Thuthuka Group Limited (TGL) has announced the relaunch of Thuthuka Project Managers (TPM) as a joint venture between TGL and Mega Africa Holdings, a broad-based black economic empowerment company that is active in various sectors of the economy.
"As the founder member of the Thuthuka Group, it seems appropriate that TPM’s relaunch addresses the broad-based black economic empowerment of Thuthuka," says TGL MD Bill Pullen.
TPM will operate as a subsidiary of TGL and offer a range of engineering services, including the design, manufacture, installation and project management of projects for the chemical, mining, metallurgical, industrial and parastatal, provincial and municipal markets. The firm's scope of work includes power generation, chemical and metallurgical process, water and effluent treatment, hazardous waste treatment and air pollution control and construction of the civil infrastructure for the above plants.
Mega Africa Holdings brings with it a multidisciplinary team of engineers and other professionals who have broad exposure and who are actively involved in various sectors, and who will assist TPM in tackling multidisciplinary projects that require an empowerment component. The synergy between Mega Africa Holdings and TPM in terms of capabilities and market interests will enable TPM to successfully target the public sector.
In addition, TPM through TGL also offers a unique project financing solution, further distinguishing itself from the rest of the players in its field. TGL’s unique project financing solution allows it to not only finance projects and accept operating ownership of its plants, but to take on the risk of providing a complete solution., relieving the client of the burden of finding finance for their projects and operating non-care plant. This allows the client to concentrate on his core business while TGL provides the non-core services. The resulting plant is then operated on a contractural Build, Own, Operate and Maintain basis. TPM and TGL capitalise on their members' significant experience in carrying out these projects.
